New Music: The Empty Page – Life Is A Wave
Grief can overcome you in waves, the ebb and flow of loss lapping at your consciousness and flowing into your life at the oddest times and in varying degrees – that lack of logic only amplifying the pain. Manchester’s The Empty Page explore those tides of anguish on new single Life Is A Wave.
The track, which will also appear on their Imploding long player, feels influenced by both post-punk and post-rock as the driving rhythm section glides under a fusion of electronica and guitar. Kel’s vocals express the pain and passion of the lyrics with aplomb, turning the track into more of a celebration of life than an elegy for those lost.

Says the band about the song, “Life Is A Wave is about the death of a friend and the grief, sorrow and questions that followed. It’s about how life can be very short and the cards you are dealt are seemingly random and unfair.”

“It’s about holding those you love dear but trying to let the waves of life (and grief) flow over you because there is nothing you can do to change things.”

Imploding is set for release on the 10th of May via Bandcamp and is currently up for pre-order in digital, vinyl, and CD editions. The band have an official launch party for Imploding at Yes in Manchester on the 16th of that month.
The Empty Page play The Night Owl in London on the 10th of May. For ticket details for both gigs, and other listening options for Life Is A Wave, check out the band on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok.
