New Music: The Hannah Barberas – It’s Not Over for the Heartache

London quartet The Hannah Barberas are Damien (guitar and vocals), Lucy (vocals), Doug (bass) and Matthew (drums and vocals). Their new track It’s Not Over for the Heartache echoes the C86 sound, but does something new with the genre.

Catford’s finest take a quintessentially English sound and inject it with some precision Motown percussion and 60s beat vocals, giving the song noticable Northen Soul stylings . Like Sarah Cracknell fronting the legendary Chesterfields, there’s a sublime intertwining of pop hooks and vocal harmonies, all overlaid on the most jangly quitar melody this side of 53^rd & 3^rd_.  You’d be a fool to not love this song.
