New Music: Vogon Poetry x SCALA – Hope of Heading Home

Cult Swedish electronic groups Vogon Poetry and SCALA have just dropped the first of a number of upcoming collaborations in the form of Hope of Heading Home. The track sees Roger Tell and co digress slightly from the sci-fi themes of Vogon Poetry’s previous releases, exploring new horizons with style.

The track is far from the infamous tonal extremities of the mythical Vogon poetry of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Rather, it explores the sensitively drawn electronic palettes of the band’s signature sounds as well as contemporaries like Johan Baeckström, Train To Spain, and Zynic.

Synthpop with upbeat hooks and a wistful, brooding quality in the arrangement, Hope of Heading Home is a wonderfully evocative track that feels like the perfect soundtrack for a rainy afternoon on distant shores – or planets.

Reveals Vogon Poetry main man Tell about the song, “Hope of Heading Home is a melancholic but upbeat track about longing for home wherever that might be.” Vogon Poetry and SCALA are currently working on a collaborative EP set for release later this spring.
