Danish production quartet When Saints Go Machine return after a five-year absence with a new EP, and as a taster they’ve release a single from it in the form of ZeroFrame.
Previously known for their fusion of dance music, experimental soundscapes and punk sensibility, ZeroFrame certainly doesn’t disappoint the listener.
With subtle references to trance and as well as the more ambient electronic genres, it takes its time unwinding as if it wants to entice you in to its sublime and unique world. Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild’s ethereal and at times unsettling vocals add to the sense of an unstructured, unfocused reality, as if inhabiting a comforting but altered state of consciousness.
ZeroFrame isn’t a musical journey, more a reflection on a point in time, an unhurried moment in a hectic world, and it is all the more affecting for that.
