New Music: YUL – Trankil

YUL is an artistic powerhouse; he owns the label RESISTE, he’s a composer and sound designer for TV, films and more but he is also a musician in his own right; delivering some fine minimal electro and techno to the discerning listener with tracks like Trankil – check out the official video for the track, which was directed by Bruno Gabriel Martin.

There’s an air of early Detroit techno here, its sparse reliance on bass and percussion used to drive the track along, but there’s a layer of a darker, more European sensibility as well – minimal yet textured, particularly in the way it works to establish itself as a mood creator as much as a soundtrack for movement.

Tranki is out now and you can discover how to download and stream the track here. The tracks also features on YUL’s Escape EP which is out now.
