New Music: Secret Shame – Pure

New Music: Secret Shame – Pure

It wasn’t so long ago that we covered Dissolve by Ashville’s Secret Shame. They’re back with the other track from the vinyl AA single, the delicious but all too brief Pure.

The North Carolina band really is at the vanguard of post-punk right now, on a song they say focuses on “the frantic delirium of toxic relationships.” Here, they resist the urge to take the difficult subject matter and bury it in the classic tropes of the genre. Instead, every element of the song is given time to shine, like gems standing alone in splendid isolation. Lena Machina’s melancholic vocals give added meaning to that duality of destructive love which lies at the heart of the track, full of heartache and pain.

You can listen to Secret Shame’s Pure on all major platforms including, Spotify. Be sure to check the band out over on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram; maybe throw them a follow to keep up with news about the single, upcoming live dates, and more.
