New Music: Puvirnituq – Don’t Blame Me

Formed by Damion from The Cowls and Richard from STOCKSNSKINS, Puvirnituq got their name from the geographic halfway between their current homes. Their music is just as inventive, as you can tell from Don’t Blame Me.

The track is the opener from the Anglo-American duo’s Halfway There On Fumes album and sees both musicians playing to their strengths. A looping, rumbling bass line from Richard screams dub and post-punk, dark and easy to dance to. Simultaneously, Damion’s knack of creating a more poppy No Wave meets Talking Heads adds an accessible, spiky sound to the track. Both artists are highly prolific, but why not share it when you make music as good as this?
