Playlist: Alice Hubble’s Escapism Playlist
After the late-2019 release of Polarlichter on Happy Robot Records, 2020 was looking bright for Alice Hubble. ‘Stuff’ happened, as we all know, but she has a new single out and an album in the pipeline, so we thought we’d ask her to compile a playlist of her lockdown listening. Check it out below.
She says: “This playlist is mainly the tracks that have been with me in this strange and turbulent year. 2020 was a year when I didn’t really listen to much new music. In part because releases were put on hold, but I also needed the space from it to write and record my next LP. I feel incredibly privileged to have been able to go into the studio this October, and I look forward to sharing the LP with the world as soon as I can. Like most people, a lot of my 2020 has been spent on my sofa, and as a result, there’s a lot of tracks discovered in the weekly film night with friends and the TV shows that have offered a sense of wonder and travel. There’s also a track from the Zoom Disco Aerobics class, the tracks that kept me feeling buoyant on my walks to go swimming in the nearby reservoir, and the tracks that remind me of driving through the Cornish countryside this summer.”
We Are Not Alone comes out on the 27th of November and will feature an epic remix from Pye Corner Audio, which you can listen to on Spotify and rather fittingly rounds off this cinematic daydream playlist.
