New Music: The Besnard Lakes – Our Heads, Our Hearts On Fire Again

The Besnard Lakes are gearing up to release their new album The Besnard Lakes Are The Last of the Great Thunderstorm Warnings by revealing an animated video for featured song Our Heads, Our Hearts On Fire Again. Scroll down to watch this cool clip.

The band certainly hit a lot of my music sweet spots here. The Beach Boys’ and Flaming Lips’ misty, mystic tones at their most esoteric and adventurous come to mind on first listen. That’s framed at times through a shoegaze lens, though it’s the cosmic tones of the arrangement and the spectral majesty of the vocal performances, full of wonder, that lift the song to a higher plane.

They say the song has the same 3/4 waltz signature as their song, Disaster, and is “a bit of a lament about how sad the band was when they parted ways with Jagjaguwar.”

The Besnard Lakes Are the last of the Great Thunderstorm Warnings is released on the 29th of January via Flemish Eye. It comes in digital, CD, and double vinyl gatefold editions, which are up for pre-order on Bandcamp.
