New Music: Low Girl – Big Now

Low Girl’s (previously known as sara) debut EP is set for release on the 30th of April. To get us in the mood, they’ve dropped the title track Big Now, the follow-up to August’s ICU. Have a listen to the track on Soundcloud below.

There’s a wonderfully quirky take on pop going on here. Think Ladyhawke or Florence Welch, and you’re in the right ballpark. On first listen, its pacey melody wraps itself around an enchanting vocal performance and an irresistibly catchy chorus on Big Now, making for a entertaining sound. However, the lyrics skew the notion that this could be considered a standard pop song, as do the edgy undertones of the indie-electro arrangement. It’s subversive, political, and a lot of fun.

Says vocalist Sarah about Big Now, “Above all, this song is a plea to be heard and understood. It’s about destroying the planet for wealth that you don’t take to your grave. And it’s to remind myself to fight apathy whenever I feel it stirring inside me.”

You can stream Big Now and ICU on Spotify, Amazon, and Apple Music. Hit up their TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram socials for further listening options and keep up with release details for the Big Now EP.
