New Music: Basement Revolver – Dissolve

Basement Revolver are based in Hamilton, Ontario, and describe their sound as dreamgaze. It’s a fusion term that doesn’t capture the complexity and majesty of the music, however, as you can hear on Dissolve.

The song, which is from the recently released Embody album, possesses elements of shoegaze and to a lesser extent dreampop within its musical DNA. The vocals have a floating, yearning quality, one that’s at home with the occasionally muscular drums and lead guitar. The rhythm section lilts gently for much of Dissolve, inviting you into its world, allowing a welcome musical escape from the last few years, looking forward to a better future.

“Dissolve is about creating a life together, through the beautiful and the bitter,” says the band. “It is about looking into your partner’s eyes and feeling fully known. It is about falling more and more in love each and every day even though it feels impossible to love someone more. It is about doing life together.”

Dissolve and Embody are out now to stream, download via Bandcamp, with the vinyl edition available here. You can listen to the album and more music from Basement Revolver over on Spotify, Deezer, and Apple Music.
