New Music: New Constellations – Evergreen (Music Inspired by LAIKA’s Wildwood)

The latest single from New Constellations will certainly be evergreen, destined to last in the memory as long as the source of its inspiration.

Evergreen is the Portland duo’s contribution to Wildwood Sessions, an album of original music inspired by Oscar-winning animation studio LAIKA’s latest film Wildwood. It sees New Constellations feature alongside some equally well-respected acts like The Decemberists, Portugal. The Man, and Saya Gray; it has to be said that Harlee Case and Josh Smith more than hold their own in such illustrious company. Trivia fact: Wildwood is based on the book of that name by The Decemberists’ frontman, Colin Meloy! Rather than a traditional soundtrack, Wildwood Sessions features original songs inspired by the world, characters and themes of the film.

With its references to harvest moons, cedar trees, Evergreen makes you feel close to nature, its rich textures and the vocals of Harlee Case are like a natural part of the cedar forests and homes of her native Oregon. New Constellations have a lot more to share with us after the May release of their It Comes in Waves debut album; this is a beautiful and enchanting way to let us know that.

You can find streaming options for Wildwood Sessions right here. New Constellations are currently touring, with dates to come in Canada and throughout America, ending in Portland and Seattle at the start of December. Be sure you connect with New Constellations on Instagram or Facebook for news on those tour dates; some are already close to selling out!
