Introducing: Night Sins

Published On: May 21st, 2022|

With the release on Night Sins’ Violet Age LP just a matter of weeks away, we caught up with Kyle Kimble from the band. Read on and find out about some exciting gig news, as well as gaining an insight to his creative process – and the band’s nicknames!

First up, could you tell us a bit about the people behind Night Sins?

I sing and play keyboards, Hellhound is on the drums, Lizard on bass and Tiny Dancer is on lead guitar

What inspires you to write music?

Other artists. You see an amazing body of work and it inspires you to want to contribute to that world. If you think you have it in yourself to create and give back, then it should almost be your obligation to do that.

Who would you say has had the most influence on your sound?

Tangerine Dream, Nitzer Ebb, Depeche Mode, Sisters of Mercy, Bananarama.

What has been the most memorable moment of your musical career so far?

When we play with Pink Turns Blue in October. If Two Worlds Kiss really helped inspire the early Night Sins stuff. I think that will be the most memorable moment.

Night Sins and NOTHING sound very different. Does the Night Sins creative process mirror that?

Sure, I write all the songs. I try to create songs I wish existed for me to listen to.

Is there any artist or band you’d love to collaborate with?

The Jesus and Mary Chain

What artists/albums do you have on heavy rotation right now?

Skinny Puppy – Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse

Beatles – Rubber Soul

Pretty Poison – Catch Me (I’m Falling)

Fields of the Nephilim – Elizium

What’s the inspiration behind the lyrics to Fantasy 21?

It’s about being the perpetual apologist. When you throw drugs and alcohol into any mix you can find yourself in a habitual pattern of ending up in low places

What’s up next for Night Sins in the wake of releasing Fantasy 21 in terms of videos, new music, gigs…?

We have a lyric video to watch, hopefully we’ll perform it at our Record Release show at St. Vitus on 6/18. I want to make a covers record at some point, I think that would be excellent fun. Maybe a Madonna deep cut.

Violet Age is out this June via Born Losers Records, and the vinyl edition of the LP can be pre-ordered on Bandcamp. You can stream Fantasy 21 plus more tunes from Night Sins on Spotify, Apple Music, and Deezer – check out the band’s and Instagram for more options.
