New Music: Women Tied To Railroad Tracks – Fake Tans

Fake Tans by Women Tied To Railroad Tracks is a riveting story within a story. As the lyrics reflect on personal experiences, they also take inspiration from the literature of Doris Lessing, seeing past and present meet.

The band wear their influences on the sleeves but do it with so much panache and persuasiveness that it’s impossible to not fall for Fake Tans. Fleetwood Mac comes to mind, especially in the Nicks-like vocals, as shades of  Roxy Music, Eagles, and Tennis also come into play within the arrangement. That soft rock ambience doesn’t distract from the revelatory and hard-hitting moments in life detailed in the lyrics, though.

Talking about the track, the groups disclosed, “Fake Tans is about possibility, loosely based on part of the novel The Golden Notebook where the protagonist talks about meeting a man with ‘a crack’ in his personality: “like a gap in a dam, and through that gap the future might pour in a different shape — terrible perhaps, or marvellous, but something new.’”

Women Tied To Railroad Tracks release their Holiday In, Holiday Out album in June through Anxiety Blanket Records. Catch up with the band via Facebook and Instagram. You can listen to Fake Tans on Spotify, YouTube Music, and Apple Music.
