Clusters is the second single from Emma Anderson’s debut solo album Pearlies, which is due out later this month. It’s a real grower, its initially intimate tones expanding into a charming motorik groove somewhere between Melody’s Echo Chamber and Stereolab.

Says Anderson, “This is the first track I did with James [Chapman, aka Maps, producer] and the one we found our feet with. It’s the pop one on the album but although it’s upbeat, I think lyrically I think it’s quite dark.”

“It’s about some young people at a party at the end of summer, seeing some signs on a wall,” continues Anderson. The lyrics refer to this time of year and the nights drawing in.”

“It probably has some connection to some events that happened a few years ago. Discovering a kind of underlying threat during something that should have been quite fun.”

Pearlies is released on the 20th of October, with the album up for pre-order in various formats on Anderson’s Bandcamp page. Check out Emma Anderson on Twitter and Instagram for more album news.
