New Music: Coppia – Modern Dancefloor

Louise and Peter Marchione pop up in quite a few Swedish electronic outfits: I have to say, I like the sound of Coppia most of all.

Modern Dancefloor is synthpop with an indie edginess to it, a celebration of the dancefloor, but also a recognition of how others can judge you for that. The lyrics hit a confrontational tone at times, at odds with pop’s desire to fall before the almighty algorithm.

It means that Coppia are in good company, falling into an outsider aesthetic that fans of Kite, Ladytron, and Client will adore; electronic pop with the confidence and class to expect you to take the song as you find it.
