New Music: jasper dean – TELEMONKEY

Celine muse, jasper dean, has a playful pop at the burgeoning indie sleaze revival on TELEMONKEY.

Detroit-based dean corrals hyperpop and art-rock into an indie-electro banger with lyrics that are arch to the max. The energy of The Stooges slides into a high-flying Beck-meets-SOPHIE approach to indie and electro that is perfect for those that know they look good on the dance floor but know they shouldn’t take themselves too seriously because of that. Lyrically and vocally, you can hear hints of a young Beck and Berlin-era Bowie, musicians who were the real deal – I suspect dean is too.
