New Music: Dafties x Kid Reed – Lawnchair.exe
I’d love to know more about how Lawnchair.exe came about, especially as it’s a quality indie slow burner with a lot of empathy and energy.
Wigan grit-pop duo Dafties, Con and Rae, hit the canvas with Louisville, Kentucky, based rapper and wrestler Kid Reed – aka Myron M. Reed – whom they have known for over ten years. It gets you a chilled and summery indie bop with lyrics that have an unexpected emotional heft for a song that is so bright and dreamy. Reed’s flow syncs perfectly into the rhythm and cadence of the melody, open and vulnerable, plain-speaking and ice-cool, just what we need right now in his hot weather.
Reveal Dafties about the track: “Using the Americanism ‘lawnchair’ as its central metaphor, the song explores the experience of being folded out, leaned on, and left out when someone better comes along. At its core, Lawnchair.exe is about self-worth and the difficult process of letting go of one-sided friendships.”
Reed is set to appear at AEW’s All In London card at Wembley Stadium this August, while Lawnchair.exe will appear on Tea, the new EP from Dafties, which is out later this year.
