New Music: Brynja Rán – Unblurred Lines

Published On: November 5th, 2026|

Last month saw Brynja Rán release her Blurred album, and for me, the killer track is the quiet devastation of Unblurred Lines.

Blurred is her debut album, something that is rather difficult to fathom, as you can’t help but lose yourself in Unblurred Lines’ late-night chanteuse ambiance. Rán has that relaxed blues and R&B quality that helped define Amy Winehouse and Lana Del Rey as stars and musical style icons.

She has been enrapturing audiences with her take of soul, funk, jazz and R&B since childhood, and maybe that’s a factor. Having such a long musical apprenticeship behind her despite being so young is what gives Unblurred Lines and Blurred such an unforced and authentic feel. Like Winehouse, Corinne Bailey Rae, and RAYE, Icelander Rán isn’t retro: most certainly not a recreation of a time when pop music had style and class; she’s a continuation, if not a peer, of those singers that live on outside trends and algorithms.

You can hear Unblurred on SoundCloud and Spotify – for other streaming options as well as artist news, be sure to connect with Brynja Rán on Instagram.
