New Music: ANDRÆ – Breadcrumbs

Breadcrumbs by London-based Belgian musician ANDRÆ packs a lot into its short run time of under 90s seconds. With a lead vocal that looks to classic soul and modern RNB as sonic guardrails, it is emotionally open and easily relatable.

The arrangement comes from a very different direction however. Maybe the song started off with a traditional pop-soul narrative, but along with the haunting melody, the arrangement is teased and moulded into something wonderfully atmospheric and adventurous but at times unsettling.

It makes a perfect setting for a track ANDRÆ describes as being about “…survival when everything seems to be taken away from you. The ‘breadcrumbs’ refer to the tales of kids who cannot find their way back home.”
