New Music: atmos bloom – It’s Enough

Tilda Gratton and Curtis Paterson met in Manchester when Gratton auditioned for Paterson’s band almost a decade ago.

Fast forward to today, and their own group, atmos bloom, has dropped It’s Enough, the third single from their Everythingness LP. Those Manchester days linger on in the bassline; its references to Peter Hook’s thunderous sound are audible, gently showered in a sparkling mix of dream pop and the lighter end of shoegaze.

I wouldn’t describe It’s Enough as being influenced that much by the 80s, as its influences are from later eras, one fans of Still Corners and Beach House will fall for. However, the main bands that I would place atmos bloom and Everythingness beside musically – Cocteau Twins and Marine Girls, the latter most of all in lyrics the band say focus on “struggling to be enough for different people’s demands” – have a similar way with mood and melody that reveals an equally timeless quality.
