New Music: AyOwA – Fri

Nicolai Kornerup and Hannah Schneider are the duo behind AyOwA, who utilise modular synths, old reel-to-reel machines and haunting vocals to create dark but moving electronic pop songs. The lyrics are in Danish, though they still convey a universal and dreamy appeal through their sound alone. Part noise pop, part vapor wave, and improvised melodies it all adds up to make AyOwA something special as their latest single Fri attests.

Fri is the lead single for the band’s debut EP Eremit which they describe as being a ‘soulful search into the depth of electronic music, and the Scandinavian DNA. With many months of darkness and anticipation for a summer that sometimes never comes’.

It’s music for lotus eaters, all chilled and embracing, making you forget the outside world for a while. The track and EP are out now on  digital platforms and you can stream the EP on Spotify.
