New Music: DETECTS – We Found Out

DETECTS are set to follow up their 2025 MINUS album with the reflective post-punk of their new EP, Every Day I Try To Find You.

The opening track on the EP, We Found Out promises great things, as the Hattiesburg-based band parlay icy synths over a rumbling post-punk rhythm section. There’s a soothing and abstract solemnness to much of the track, a bit Joy Division and a bit Drab Majesty, growing into a greater dissonance as the lead guitar becomes less calming and more assertive, possessing a sharpness and resolve that the song’s lyrics deliberately do not mirror.

In fact, the band describes the track as “a somber glimpse into a fractured rumination. Part accusation, part lament, with no solid conclusion offered.”

We Found Out, and more music from DETECTS can be heard on Bandcamp and Spotify. Check out the band’s Instagram feed for updates on Every Day I Try To Find You, which is set for release on the 20th of February.
