New Music: DI-RECT – Through The Looking Glass

DI-RECT is a long-established Dutch quintet that fuses elements of rock, pop, and indie into a sound that has seen them win legions of fans in The Netherlands and beyond since 1999. Check out the video for Through The Looking Glass, which incorporates tour and live footage.

Now entering their fourth decade as a band, the music of DI-RECT remains as inventive and entertaining as ever. The band references classic rock sounds for sure – think Eagles and Dire Straits – in the way Through The Looking Glass is rock music aiming to entertain the listener. However, the incorporation of Americana, folk, and an infectious pop chorus into the band’s makes the song wholesome, positive, and a lot of fun. And who doesn’t need that right now?

Talking about Through The Looking Glass, the band says, “It’s hard to keep your feet on the ground when the world’s upside down. Nevertheless, our resilience and dreams for a better tomorrow balance out our despair. We should always keep faith in our ability to form our future in the image of our ideals.”
