New Music: Dina Summer – Burning Heart

Dina Summer are one of my favourite electronic pop-facing acts, recording music that is dark, danceable, and adorned equally with poise and passion.

Burning Heart, which is taken from their upcoming Children Of The Night EP, sees the trio spin their take on electroclash, 80s Italo, and cold wave through a distinctly pop sensibility. They have an unmistakable sound, coming at pop from a leftfield viewpoint, arch yet open.

It is yearning and lusty, imploring a seemingly uncaring or unaware lover to cross a line to nights filled with moments of fleshly abandon. Dina Summer incorporate a willingness to entertain the listener – yes, the track is very personal, but presented in a club-friendly, melody-focused way that is impossible to resist.   

It’s another sure-fire winner from their new nine-track record, a release that takes its title from and pays homage to legendary actor Bela Lugosi’s iconic line in the 1931 movie version of Dracula (1931): “Listen to them. Children of the night… what music they make.”

On their tour to tie in with the EP, Dina Summer will appear at festivals including E-Tropolis, Grauzone, Out Of Line Weekender, Katzenclub Festival, and Extramuralhas.

They also embark on a series of headline shows in Berlin, London, Paris, Athens, Bogotá, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Santiago, Buenos Aires and many more.
