New Music: Fremmand – Legendary Lover (feat. Peter Hayes of BRMC)

Danish/Faroese rock group Fremmand have toured Germany and Denmark with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club in recent years, and from that bond has grown this collaboration with Peter from BRMC. Watch the video for Legendary Lover to find out more.

Taking some musical cues from Gothic rock, there’s a hint of HIM and the early releases of The Cure about the song. However, Jana Hjalgrímsdóttir’s vocals add slivers of golden light into the dark and brooding post-punk sound that pervades every moment and every note.  The vocal interplay with Peter Hayes gives the song a sense of narcotic abandon, full of longing, regret, and escape. This isn’t a song you’ll want to leave behind, however, as it works its way under your skin and into your soul.

Peter Hayes describes the track like this; “Legendary Lover is about all the things you’re ignorant about and working through one’s own misguided attempts of a fix.”

Legendary Lover can also be streamed on Spotify – to find out more about Fremmand and how to listen to the song, check out their social media, including Instagram and Facebook.  The track is out now on Tutl Records both as a vinyl 7” inch single, along with the Faroese song Vón.
