New Music: State Alchemist – Endless Road

It’s not just the possible reference to one of my all-time favourite anime that got me engrossed into Endless Road by State Alchemist, but it did catch my eye.

You could imagine the track featuring in the outro to a show like Fullmetal Alchemist, its atmospheric and slowly unfurling message accompanied by lyrics that are loaded with emotion. Endless Road doesn’t hit power ballad territory, sounding more like the soundtrack for times of decompression and – possibly missed – connection. If you like De/Vision and Edge Of Dawn, music that seeks to move you with its depth of character, you’ll find this electronic pop gem gets under your skin and into your heart rather easily indeed.

The band have described the song in a very visual and stylised way in this pen picture: “A long, quiet drive in the snow; a love story that felt like fate. A slow, icy ballad of creaking glaciers and little flurries caught in headlights and a sigh of resignation.”

Portland-based State Alchemist are currently touring the US; for venue details, plus streaming options for the band’s music, connect with them on Instagram.
