New Music: Godspeed You! Peter Andre – Clubber

Manchester’s self-described “witch techno” duo Godspeed You! Peter Andre has recently signed to Mas O Menos Records (Hello there to another label from Manchester!). Among the first fruits of that relationship is the disorienting darkness that is Clubber. You can listen to it on Bandcamp below.

The song takes pounding dance beats and bass as its unearthly base, adding distorted vocals, dark rhythms, and a hint of menace to concoct a song designed to put a spell on you, one you won’t want to resist. It feels destined for the most hedonist of dancefloors, ones that only get going when others are going to bed, and there lies its greatest strength. Clubber is music for those of us for whom daylight is a passing thought but come alive at night.
