New Music: Houston Fry – It’s Always Been You

The gentle, bubbling jazz motifs in the guitar and melody give It’s Always Been You by Houston Fry an evergreen energy.

A rolling, romantic ballad with lyrics delivered with real panache by Fry’s blue-eyed soul vocals, It’s Always Been You has all the hallmarks of a late 80s, early 90s slow-burning celebration of love. It might come across a bit retro because of that, but there will always be a place in many people’s hearts for music with a warm, comforting message and a lush, romantic ambience.

“It makes me cry, trying to describe the meaning of this song,” states Fry. “It’s really about self-love, but was written about everyone who I feel at home with.”
