New Music: I WANT POETRY – No Is A Full Sentence

Dresden-based art-pop duo I WANT POETRY treat us to a fresh pop-pourri on No Is A Full Sentence.

‘No’ is a word, a sentence, and – as the lyrics point out – it can also be a powerful statement of self-expression, boundary-setting, and self-confidence. Like a bouquet of flowers that may contain a thorn or two, No Is A Full Sentence is full of sharp colour, something to be shared with others, especially those that may be feeling a bit down.

I WANT POETRY explore the pop side of the range on the song; the chorus and bridge are memorable and fun, and the melody is certain to get you heading on to the dance floor with a friend or two and a smile on your face.

The song has a simple message that it expresses in a joyful manner. Says the duo, “It’s our confidence boost for all the times you feel like you’ve had enough. Stand up for yourself – you know what you want, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. And have fun!”

The accompanying video for No Is A Full Sentence was filmed in Kuala Lumpur and directed by Chris Fowler, who has given the duo a positive, and yes, confident, visual means by which to express themselves and the song.

No Is A Full Sentence will appear on the band’s Future Selves album and can be streamed on Spotify and Bandcamp. For album news and details of live dates in New York and Dresden, follow I WANT POETRY on Facebook and Instagram.
