New Music: Isserley – Leftovers

Tidings of comfort and joy are not what all of us associate with the holiday period, especially the one in 2020! Australia’s Isserley has bottled up a fair portion of that feeling in new track Leftovers.

The track is from SADXMASS (you can find her thoughts on the release below) and sees Isserley in full ‘saddest girl in Australia’ mode. That means you get a crushing collision of sludge, doom, and grunge given a bleak industrial rock makeover. However, the song places the vocal and melody front and centre so that Leftovers always retains an accessible, outward-looking sound.

The Sydney-based artist says about the song, “Leftovers is one of 7 songs I wrote for a Christmas album, with the concept of shining a light on the darker side of the festive season, and the feelings it can cause in us.”

Leftovers and the SADXMASS album can be streamed on Spotify, Bandcamp, and Apple Music. Be sure to check their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to keep up with other listening options for the LP and new releases from Isserley. If you want to hear a different aspect of Isserley’s sound, check out the soundtrack for the short film, Breathless.
