New Music: Korine – Anhedonia

Published On: January 8th, 2025|

This March sees a new album, A Flame In The Dark, from Philadelphia dark pop duo Korine. If new single Anhedonia is anything to go by, it’s going to be a belter.

Rather like Drab Majesty and Twin Tribes, Korine often look to melodic post-punk as a foundation for their music, but as on Anhedonia, often apply a more pop-punk, even emo-pop sheen and sensibility to that polished sound.

Morgy Ramone and Trey Frey are at their sonic best here, with the track bearing a surprisingly upbeat ambience, even as the lyrics are sombre and the vocals mournfully reflective. I can’t wait to hear the album!

A Flame In The Dark is set for release on the 28th of March via Born Losers Records, and can be pre-ordered in vinyl, CD, and cassette formats on Bandcamp.

Korine have European live dates lined up in Stockholm, London, and The Hague next month. For details on those and streaming options for Anhedonia, as well as all the latest album news, follow the duo on Instagram or Facebook.
