French band La Femme are best known for their ‘pop meets Krautrock’ sound that has seen them garner millions of streams on Spotify alone. However, they’ve always had a more artistic, experimental edge and chance occurrence led to them expressing that on Runway.
Their friend Hedi Slimane heard a work in progress called Runway, and when he took over at fashion house Celine he asked them to create something for his upcoming show.
The band teamed up with model Grace Hartzel to create a 20-minute soundscape to accompany his show at Les Invalides in Paris – covered by Vogue – that sees the band serve up a trancey, euphoric soundtrack that provides a sophisticated backing to Hartlzel’s musings on the nature of the modern fashion industry.
Vibrant and vivacious, and at times providing a sly but loving critique of the fashion industry, Runway works perfectly as the backdrop to high fashion but also as a standalone piece of art in its own right.
