New Music: Louise Weseth – Fragments of me

Published On: November 24th, 2024|

Fragments of me was written and recorded during a time that saw Louise Weseth travel back and forth between Copenhagen and Oslo. Maybe that impacted the domestic nature of the lyrics?

A smouldering number with a message that is driven home by the slowly unfurling vocals of Weseth, Fragments of me has a familiar feel, no doubt because the feelings she expresses occur to many of us as we journey through life. The dream pop arrangement has a sweetly retro vibe, organic and lush in the vein of Club 8 and ViVii, one that’ll encourage your thoughts to drift to better times and places.

Says Weseth about the song, “Fragments of me was written during a time of a lot of change, both internally and externally. It was an attempt to understand a feeling I found hard to conceptualize or put words to. ‘Rootless’, ‘scattered’, ‘chaotic’, even ‘fragmented’ – the available words felt so negatively loaded and didn’t resonate.”

“And so I wrote this song. It’s an ode to people and places that feel like home, and to the ability to feel at home within yourself wherever you are. At the time, it felt like such a frustrating thing, to have to choose between multiple realities, all there in front of, welcoming you. Now I just see it is such a beautiful thing to belong to many places and environments. It makes your life so big and so nuanced.”
