New Music: Pale Grey – JO

You’ve got to be very brave or very confident to use that iconic sample in a song of your own, but Pale Grey pull it off wonderfully on JO.

That’s in part down to the Belgian band’s creative skills, but also in the way that Hard Knock Life ties into the themes and flow of JO itself. Pale Grey bless their indie-pop track with an innocence and vulnerability, but also an openness, that chime with your fading memories of your own childhood, where adult themes and thoughts slowly crowd out that time of your life when everything is new, especially friendship and love – and loneliness.

You can stream JO and more music from Pale Grey on Spotify and YouTube Music. The song also features on their It feels like I always knew you LP, which you can pick up in digital, vinyl, and CD formats on Bandcamp. For all the latest band news, hit up Pale Grey on Facebook and Instagram.
