New Music: Perkele – Sail Away

Swedish punk rock icons Perkele are known for mixing up their genres, and they do that again with Sail Away from their upcoming Theatre album.

Punk energy pervades the arrangement, but the lyrics and melody owe a lot to Swedish folk music and 80s-style classic rock, more so as the song tells the tale of a sailor at sea.

Yes, it does wash over the listener with wave after wave of nostalgia – but Sail Away challenges genre boundaries all the same, as likely to appeal to fans of Dropkick Murphys and Moonsorrow as Iron Maiden or Helloween. And that just makes for a great party/drinking song!
