New Music: Robert Ascroft & Kid Congo Powers – Devil Opens The Door

Photographer, musician, and multi-hyphenate Robert Ascroft has just dropped a video for Devil Opens The Door, a stunning collaboration with the legendary Kid Congo Powers.

Devil Opens The Door sees Ascroft and Powers sync perfectly on an almost metaphysical level. Ascroft brings his cinematic eye and ear to bear on the arrangement, especially the dark, suspenseful guitar that will have you convinced the doors to Hades are opening to welcome you.

Kid Congo Powers, known not just for his solo career, but also for his pivotal roles in acts such as The Cramps, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and The Gun Club, is at his growling, menacing, unrestrained best here.

Powers has an almost unique ability to find a place where the blues and post-punk exist, and in conjunction with Ascroft’s artistic vision and attention to details, is at his best on this tale of lost souls.
