New Music: Sarah Coolidge – Greasers

Greasers by Sarah Coolidge is drenched in lo-fi rock and Americana, a mix that works surprisingly well. Coolidge’s serene and knowing vocal performance glides over the shifting tones of the song, wry and winsome, resulting in a great advert for the upcoming Call Me When You Get There LP.

The queer, Bay Area based musician describes Greasers a tribute and critique of Grease, a film they watched religiously as a child. Viewing it now, as a queer adult adds new perspectives for Coolidge to explore within the track, as like many queer people, things we saw coded into films and our lives as kids acquire new meanings for us as adults.

Call Me When You Get There is released on the 11th of August in digital format and can now be pre-ordered on Coolidge’s Bandcamp page.
