New Music: Strange Ranger – Wide Awake

Wide Awake by New York / Philadelphia quartet Strange Ranger is a dreamy and delicious synthpop anthem in the making. Check out the retro/80s mall vibes of the official video for the track below.

Featured on their current Pure Music album, the romantic back-and-forth vocal delivery and the lush, gradually unveiling ambience of Wide Awake will appeal to fans of electronic/indie acts like Spirit of the Beehive, Ovlov, and Porches.

Reveals vocalist Isaac Eiger, who duets with Fiona Woodman on Wide Awake, “I was thinking about these flashes of memory that stick in your head forever… bursts of senses that return every now and again but don’t lead anywhere beyond themselves like a GIF in your brain. It’s weird to think about what stays with you and if that’s at all related to how important the thing in question was.”

Wide Awake and the Pure Music album are out now via Fire Talk and can be heard and downloaded on Bandcamp, where you can also get your hands on CD and vinyl editions of the release. The music of Strange Ranger can also be streamed on Apple Music and Deezer.

Strange Ranger embarks on a headline North American tour in September, including dates in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. Ticket details and the full dates can be found on the band’s Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook socials.
