New Music: Texoprint – Modern Living

The title track of the new album from Texoprint, Modern Living, highlights how the noise rock band from Rotterdam have redefined their sound.

The band’s noise/garage background is still present, often in the menacing squall of the guitar. It has not so much been tamed though, but become progressively more focused, the emotion and energy of the arrangement targeted in a post-punk direction.

Both bleak and melodic, it acts as a fine entry point to the album: modern post-punk that’s not afraid to show weakness in the lyrics as they reflect the fractured world around us.

“[Modern Living] digs into a restless headspace where sleep won’t come and the clock won’t stop: the grind, the routines, the pressure to perform, all adding up to nothing,” states the band.

Modern Living is out now, and you can pick up the vinyl edition of the LP on Bandcamp. It’s also streaming on YouTube Music and Spotify. They play a short series of live dates, including Rotterdam, Nijmegen, and Utrecht, in October – head to Facebook and Instagram for venue and ticket details.
