New Music: Twist Helix – Louder
Newcastle’s Twist Helix certainly aren’t letting the grass grow under their feet. Following on from the video for Newcastle from their 2018 Ouseburn album, the trio release new material in the form of the anthemic Louder.
The song will feature on the band’s sophomore album, which is due out in September. It sees the trio refine and expand their sound, though with Bea Garcia’s dazzling voice once again at the heart of it all. The bright synths nod to the dancefloor, the percussion to the rock club, and the lyrics to the main stage of a festival.
The trio’s ability to draw such disparate elements together has always been one of their strengths as a band. For me, though, there seems to be a greater confidence in their new material, a readiness for bigger and better things, and a willingness to tackle difficult subjects that means their new album will be something special indeed.
Talking about the single, the band says: “Louder is about our frustrations with the industry. It’s our response to the pressure to always toe someone else’s line and to never speak out for fear of causing offence. This song goes out to anyone who has had to bite their tongue and put up with someone else’s conceited attitude… which is about 48% of the country right now.”
You can stream or download Louder on all major platforms including Spotify For more listening options, as well as news about the trio, be sure to check them out over on over on Facebook and Twitter.
