New Music: Varas – Gotta Go

Sweden’s Varas – aka Benjamin Muñoz Varas – returns in style with Gotta Go, a fiery and fuzzy indie bop that joyfully references and celebrates Blur’s indie-pop and rock periods.

However, it lays a greater emphasis on retaining and expressing a playful, Beck-like pop aesthetic. This combination makes Gotta Go a song you should play loud, sing along to, and use to release some of the tension in your soul.

Speaking of the single, which was recorded during the sessions for his There You Go! EP, Varas revealed, “Gotta Go touches on times of idiotic admiration. When you put someone on a pedestal, nothing can pull them down. The consequences could be heavenly or a living hell, and that’s the charm of it.”
