New Music: Velatine – Till Death We Do Art
While it’s decidedly gothic and very electronic, Till Death We Do Art still looks outside those influences to bring the listener something new.
With a vocal performance that is as much Lana Del Rey as it is Elena Alice Fossi, both languid and full of an assured grandeur it creates and immediate impression.
That quality that finds an equal place within the song itself, so that even though Velatine are based in Melbourne, the song brings European grace and Southern charm together to entrance the listener.

Says the band, “Till Death We Do Art is for the creatives of the world, the never-ending circle an artist must orbit, the highs and lows that they endure, to follow their destiny regardless, until they are no more.”
“It’s the life of being creative, an addiction to being better than your last effort. The highs are high, and the lows can be devastating, but the search for meaning continues to propel them regardless. It’s about giving over your creation and making it public.”
“The battle to get it where you feel it’s ready to share has been fought, and regardless of what anyone thinks, you brace yourself for separation. The romance you once had slips away, there can be no further change; and you know the happier you are with your work, the bigger the fall will be.
It’s time to move forward but your attempts are laced with self-doubt, you think that you’ll never create anything meaningful again, that this was your peak! Like death, you’re mourning, and no matter how hard you try to restart, the next peak seems so far away. Then little flashes of ideas start to accumulate in your head, and you know that it’s your destiny to start the cycle again.”
