New Music: Young Summer – If The World Falls To Pieces

Young Summer is Nashville-based artist Bobbie Allen. Known for her Sirens EP and a cover version of Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand, Allen’s own music is once again to the fore on new track If The World Falls To Pieces.

If The World Falls To Pieces feels like the product of an alternate Nashville – the perfect, stark soundtrack for a time when the skies are always orange. Like a classic 50s country tune, the lyrics tackle a universal theme in a seemingly sedate setting, finding heartache in the deceptive ordinariness of life. If you’ve watched Preacher, this song would be a perfect fit for the soundtrack: love and damnation in a sensual embrace to a nursery rhyme that’ll play until the end of days.

Allen says about the track, “If The World Falls To Pieces is maybe my favorite song I’ve ever written. It’s a song that I did not want, in any way, to sound defeatist, but I did enjoy it to articulate exactly how the last four years have felt, that every day the world’s end feels like it’s burning a mile from our front doors and is fast approaching.

The song articulates that it is also a hopeful love song as the narrator chooses to focus on what is left instead of what is gone. It’s a love song but not necessarily a romantic love; it could be for a partner, but also for a friend or family member.”
