New Music: ZDAN – save me (rock n roll)

Nashville-based singer, songwriter, and producer ZDAN (Brandy Zdan) heralds her upcoming SO WHAT! LP with the era-busting save me (rock n roll).

As the title might suggest, that classic genre plays a large role in the song, though it’s more skewed to the 70s, in a high-energy style reminiscent of The Runaways and The Go-Go’s.

No-frills guitar licks and vintage synths set the song up to be a party-time singalong, and it does meet that brief wonderfully. But the lyrics are as searing as they are memorable; the chorus is both catchy and caustic, aimed at those eager to roll back the separation of church and state as well as targeting body autonomy, making this a very timely track for America in 2025.

Says ZDAN about the song, “As a Canadian-born artist, I didn’t expect to be writing songs about a woman’s right to choose in 2025, but I have an American daughter. When Roe v. Wade was overturned, it was no longer about me.”

“It was about my daughter’s future, being able to love who she wants, and her ability to choose what’s right for her. I’m angry, as we all should be, and getting to use music as an avenue to stand up for these things couldn’t be more crucial. The best part is that my daughter loves singing along to it, too.”

SO WHAT! comes out on the 7th of November. save me (rock n roll) can be streamed on Bandcamp, Spotify, and Apple Music. For the latest album news, follow ZDAN on Facebook, TikTok, or Instagram.
