New Music: Ductape – Figures

2026 has been a breakthrough year for Ductape, as their particularly passionate approach to post-punk has deservedly gained ever-wider prominence.

Figures, from the band’s recently released Faded Flowers album, is a great introduction to the band’s sound. The Strasbourg-based duo, Çağla Güleray (vocals and synths) and Furkan Güleray (guitar, bass, and drum programming), have developed a new way of approaching post-punk since their formation in 2019.

As with Faded Flowers itself, Figures captures much of the mood of post-punk, sombre and relentless. The vocals of Çağla Güleray guide the song towards a place that has more of a dark wave atmosphere, but what stands out here, and on much of the LP, is how much light and movement Ductape find within the brooding monolith that post-punk can easily become. It’s no exaggeration to say this is probably their best album to date.

Faded Flowers was released on the 18th of September in vinyl and CD editions – you can pick them up on Bandcamp. It can also be streamed on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major music platforms.

Ductape say of Faded Flowers, “This album is everything we’ve lived through over the past two years, turned into music. We started this journey without really knowing where it would take us, and somehow, before we knew it, we had arrived at our fourth album. Some songs were written after a night spent with you, while others came simply from life… We are the ones trying to grow in a field of faded flowers, you and us, together.”

Ductape have commenced the second leg of their European tour to support the album, with dates in Germany, Portugal, and the Balkans confirmed. There’s also one date confirmed for the UK in 2027 so far; check out Ductape’s Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram feeds for details.
