New Music: The Connecting Dots – Night Driver

With their debut album Oblivious Beat freshly released via Sweden’s Direct Lines, indie-electro duo The Connecting Dots have created this moody video for featured track Night Driver.

Stockholm-based Helena Sundstrom and Johan Borg have a sound that echoes the classic rock tones of fellow Scandinavians The Raveonettes, and the more reflective sounds of Ladytron or Saint Etienne. Night Driver switches from melancholy to sadness and back, as Sundstrom, backed by a dreamy electro-indie arrangement gives an performance that is drenched with emotion and regret. Each moment, each image evokes the sense of a journey that has been started but may never truly conclude, like an open-ended tragedy.

You can stream Oblivious Beat and Night Driver on Spotify and Apple Music. You can pre-order a vinyl edition of the album, due to ship on the 5^th of March, on Bandcamp. Head over to The Connecting Dots’ Instagram page for details on listening to their music and discovering more about the duo.
