New Music: Mickey 9s – Full American

Glasgow’s dance-punk outfit Mickey 9s brings the funk to their sound with a new track and accompanying video, the gloriously in-your-face Full American.

It’s a song that’s full of attitude and anger, carrying that off with real panache. The song seems to nod to Bowie’s classic Young Americans at points in the wicked guitar licks and insanely catchy chorus. Bowie went for a soulful and romantic, though still edgy sound on his track. Mickey 9s don’t hold any musical or lyrical punches, though. Punk and funk combining, as they celebrate and reflect on Trump’s fall while remembering that Britain’s Trump still retains power here.
