New Music: BEHOR – Chains and Ropes

On Chains and Ropes, Brooklyn-based BEHOR shows us that the ties that bind can be just as strong when they’re emotional or societal, not physical.  

Any track that namechecks Garbage is a winner in my book, but Chains and Ropes offers so much more than that. Dark and wistful electro similar in tone to TR/ST bleeds into a dirty industrial rock aesthetic, as the vocals drench the song with desire and decadence. You can dance to it, sure, but it can also become the soundtrack to something much more intimate.

BEHOR has spoken in the past about having grown up in a conservative, Hasidic Jewish community, but as he sings ‘Harei At Mikudeshet Li,’ (You are hereby betrothed to me), there’s a hint that it still has an impact on his creative and personal self.

Discloses BEHOR about the track, “This is a song about Freedom. Breaking through our own personal chains and ropes, whatever that may be to truly be ourselves.”

“I was told for 20 years that I only had one way of life to follow, one path to walk on and one specifically designed view of my future. Those toxic energies messed with my mind until I finally realized that I had a choice to make if I wanted to live my life in true happiness.”
