New Music: RÊVERIE – secrets

With queer identities once again under attack worldwide, Dutch trio RÊVERIE celebrate not just that identity but also queer sexuality on secrets.

I doubt the band have set out to be explicitly political, as the song is first and foremost a dark pop banger that’s an ideal soundtrack for seduction – one fans of KOMPROMAT and Minuit Machine will lap up.

But when placed in a wider context, its existence is a rallying call for those feeling unsure of the present and the future – be that in relationships or their wider lives – to not hide in the shadows, but embrace love and life.    

They state about the inspiration for secrets, “this one’s a haunting exploration of intimacy, seduction, and the stories we keep hidden, even from ourselves.”
